Plymouth Laureate of Words 2023-25 Celebration

Wednesday, September 27

Literature Works, The Box and Plymouth Culture are delighted to welcome you to the inauguration for the next Plymouth Laureate of Words!

Plymouth has a rich history of literary connections and a burgeoning literature scene with a variety of writing groups and a welcoming community of live readers and performers. Following Laura Horton’s successful term in the role and a public vote, we’re thrilled to introduce your new Plymouth Laureate of Words for 2023-25!

At this celebratory event, we will hear readings from our three fantastic Laureates:  2021-23 Laureate of Words Laura Horton and 2023 Plymouth Young City Laureate Mimi Jones, as well as the first public reading from your new Plymouth Laureate of Words, who will be sharing their winning piece on the theme of ‘Blue Spaces’.

The Plymouth Laureate of Words represents their city in words, illuminating its life, culture and stories through a combination of creative writing commissions and public events. The locally based Laureate meets the Plymouth community to inspire and encourage the sharing of stories; reflecting the voices at the heart of the city.

Plymouth Laureate of Words is a creative partnership between Literature WorksPlymouth Culture and The Box.

This event will be in-person in the South Hall at The Box.

You can find out more about the accessibility of The Box here. If you have any access needs you’d like to discuss with us before the event you can contact us on info@literatureworks.org.uk.
