Friday, July 22

Barbican Theatre, Plymouth are excited to announce their Live (and Local) At The Lido evening of live local musicians coming to Tinside Lido’s sun terrace on Friday 22 July 2022.

Celebrating Plymouth’s amazing homegrown musical talent, this evening will feature 6 hours of live rock, pop, folk, soul, DJs and more as audiences take in the stunning views, soak up some sun, watch the sunset, and feast on the music.

Laura Kriefman, Barbican Theatre’s CEO and Artististic Director says

“We’re beyond thrilled to be presenting this night of local musical talent at Plymouth’s iconic waterfront lido. These events will really help reestablish the city as a live music hub and when we were invited to be a part of it it was a very easy yes! It’s a joy to programme a 6 hour line-up that features a brilliant mix of Plymouth’s best artists and bands – all emerging, and all of whom you will love hearing. There will definitely be something for everyone! We could have programmed this event twice over – we’ll just have to do it again.”

The vibe of the night will start quite mellow with some of the city’s incredible folk and acoustic artists and bands, followed by a more pop and rock edge, building to club night with house, electro and dance sounds.

Barbican Theatre have been working with a number of local organisations to source artists including Livewire, The Hutong Cafe, Deep Blue Sound, and The B-Bar.

Barbican Theatre’s Live (& Local) at the Lido is part of a summer season of live music from global artists and performers, performing in one of the most recognisable and beautiful Lidos in the world!

“Dancership are really happy to be working with Barbican Theatre, who have a proven track record of working with and championing local and emerging talent in the southwest. This ‘locals’ night fits brilliantly within our special programme of music events pioneering the use of the Tinside Lido Sun Terrace as never seen before. Spanning four weekend dates, and the culmination of a city wide collaboration involving both cultural and music sectors, Live At The Lido will see global artists, DJs and brands perform alongside the very best of the city’s cultural and musical talent”

This exciting Live at the Lido project has only been made possible by the considerable and collective effort of numerous city institutions, and organisations, such as Plymouth Culture, Plymouth Active, Barbican Theatre, The Box, Plymouth CityBus, The Big Blue Splash and the launch of the National Marine Park.
Live & Local at The Lido takes place on Friday 22 July from 5pm-11pm and is suitable for ages 15+. All tickets are £5 and  are on sale from 12noon on Friday 17 June at  www.barbicantheatre.co.uk
