A 400-year-old heritage: Devon’s ‘public’ libraries in the C17th and early C18th

Thursday, June 16

Dr Anna-Lujz Gilbert is a Research Fellow at University College London. Her talk will explore what exactly a ‘public’, ‘town’, or other community library was in early modern England; the libraries established here in Devon, and what they tell us about the people who used and gifted books hundreds of years ago.

Free for members of the Plymouth Proprietary Library. £2.50 for non-members.
