Create your own solar-powered artwork

Thursday, September 16

Create your own solar-powered artwork in this free two-part workshop (September 16 and September 30) hosted in collaboration with Smart Citizens and Art and Energy.

Through this workshop you will learn the fascinating skills of reverse glass-painting, laser cutting and get hands-on with solar cells. Illuminate your ideas and bring home your own sustainable artwork.

In the Part 1 Workshop, you will begin creating your designs. The Art and Energy team will demonstrate the process of reverse glass painting and support you to decorate your own glass sheet.

Moving on to the Part 2 Workshop, you will begin assembling your artwork at Fab Lab Plymouth. Working with the Fab Lab team, you will laser cut, construct and decorate a simple wooden frame. You will then add solar cells to your painted glass, with the support of Art and Energy, and finish your artwork by placing your glass into the frame.

At the end of the workshop you will have constructed and assembled your own solar powered artwork to take home.
