Barbican Christmas Lights Switch-On

Friday, November 19

Join us on Saturday 19 November 2022 on the Barbican and Sutton Harbour, for the wonderful Christmas lights switch-on and an afternoon of festive family fun with free activities, choirs and entertainment from 12pm to 6pm.

Children will be able to visit Santa in his grotto, after he has arrived from across the water on the RNLI boat. Families can soak up the festive joy of the local choirs as they perform on The Parade. There will be Christmas themed street entertainment, storytelling and rides to have a go on, plus a selection of stalls selling some delicious Christmas treats.

Take part in the free Christmas trail across the Barbican, seeking out the Christmas window displays and posters located around the shops and restaurants. Why not combine this with some Christmas shopping, and pick up some wonderful unique gifts or enjoy some festive refreshments along the way.

Look out for festive bus on Southside Street, which will be hosting the special guests who will be switching on the awesome sparkly Christmas lights, at approximately 5.30pm.

Nominate your local hero to switch on the Barbican Christmas lights!

Do you know someone who has gone above and beyond to support the community in Plymouth this year? Now is your opportunity to give them some well-deserved recognition by nominating them to turn on the Barbican Christmas lights.

Plymouth Waterfront Partnership is asking the people of Plymouth to nominate their extra special Community Hero. The winner will then join the Lord Mayor of Plymouth and Santa to turn on the Christmas lights, on Saturday 19 November, illuminating Southside Street on the Barbican.
