Art & Energy Free Creative Workshop

Thursday, November 3

Join Art and Energy and Plymouth Scrapstore for a playful & creative workshop welcoming British Art Show 9 to Plymouth!

About this event
British Art Show 9 is coming to Plymouth this autumn… as one of the Plymouth BAS9 ambassadors, Art and Energy’s Jenny Ayrton invites you to join in playful creativity to make a beautiful window display at Plymouth Scrapstore, and explore what art means to each of us.

Join us for a friendly & relaxed workshop session where you will construct your very own plywood kit gallery, delve into the wonders of Plymouth Scrapstore for inspiration as you decorate it, then choose what to exhibit.

Your gallery will have a solar light unit – place it on a window sill and the sun’s light will charge a battery, then in the evening the gallery will automatically illuminate, showcasing the items that you have chosen to exhibit.
You may choose to display your gallery in the Scrapstore window (you can collect it in time for Christmas!), or to take it home and send us a photo.

Throughout the BAS9 exhibition Art and Energy’s Jenny will be spending time at the Scrapstore as an artist in residence, sharing other arty stuff happening in the city, encouraging creativity and offering an energy and materials lens on the world.

Who is this workshop for?
Everyone! It may be that you would like to come as an individual to create a gallery, to bring a friend and make one each, or to come as a family and make one together! The construction activity is very accessible, and you can make the decoration as simple or complex as you choose.

Children must be supervised at all times by a responsible adult.

What do I need to bring?
Bring your enthusiasm and creativity! We would recommend a snack and a drink to keep energy levels up. You may also choose to bring magazines/photographs/other craft resources… but we will have lots of paint, glue and Scrapstore inspiration!

You may also choose to bring in items to go in your gallery, but please bear in mind that they will be in the window display so we cannot guarantee their security.

03 November – 10.30am-12.30pm, 1-3pm, 3.30-5.30pm
05 November – 11am-1pm

Spaces are FREE but must be booked in advance.

Limited places book HERE.
