An intro into pattern cutting course

A four week course learning the basics to pattern cutting.

We will be using industry standard block sizes to choose the closet size to you then adjusting this block to fit your shape.

You will learn basic pattern cutting techniques so that you are able to adapt your block after the course.

This could cover pivoting darts, changing necklines, sleeve variations, skirt options, all getting you ready to adjust at home.

What you will learn:

* Taking accurate body measurements and choosing the correct size block

* Adapting the block to measurements taken

* Sew block in calico and make further adjustments to fit your shape

* Mark up toile and transfer fit adjustments to pattern, sew 2nd toile to test alterations.

You will learn basic pattern cutting techniques such as

* Seam allowances, grain lines, notches and pattern information

* pivoting darts

* Adding seam lines

* Changing necklines

* Slash and spread techniques to add fullness and flare.

* sleeve options

* skirt options

12 hours of tuition from our expert pattern cutter.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

Sewing machine

Ruler

Notebook, pen and pencil

Pattern master if you have one – I am sorry we do not sell these at make

We advise you wear tight fitting clothes for the measuring part leggings and a vest top or something similar.

WHO IS THIS CLASS SUITABLE FOR?

This is an intermediate

You must have sewn several garment before and understand garment construction to a degree. Do chat to us if you are unsure if this class is for you.

Please note we try to calculate how long a workshop will be and plan to finish each garment in the allocated time but this isn’t always possible, If you are unable to finish in the workshop time we will make sure you are confident with your garment to be finished at home.
