WRITE HEAR: 5 new audio plays by Devon and Cornwall playwrights

WRITE HEAR brings together five brand new audio plays by writers based in Devon and Cornwall.

The plays take us from an airplane soaring over Canada to a lighthouse at the end of the world, from deep silences of loss to ear splitting howls of anger.

Audiences can sit back, listen and be transported into five unique worlds with five unique characters who have something they urgently want to tell you.

All five plays can be heard on Theatre Royal Plymouth’s website here until August 9, at Causley Digital Festival on August 24, and will be broadcast on Soundart Radio throughout August.

WRITE HEAR is part of ‘Write Up! 2021’ a 12-month programme of writer development and production from theatre company Down Stage Write supported by Arts Council England.

Sam Parker, co-director, says: “We are really excited to be producing five brand new audio plays from five writers who are brand new to us – we have not produced any of them before! After an open call-out, we shortlisted 10 writers and selected this brilliant bunch.“

Jon Nash, fellow co-director, adds: “The plays are all very different and have been brilliant to work on. We’re especially proud of the actors, directors and editors who are all local talent as well. We can’t wait for people to hear their work.”
